Site Update

I’m sure you’ve noticed that I gave the site a makeover, including the new Books page, where you can read a little bit about Hainted. More on that as the release date gets closer!

Remember those hideous flashing "under construction" gifs every website had back in the 90's? Yeah, I don't miss those either.

In the meantime, if you find any broken links or things that just don’t work in your browser, feel free to let me know.

Hainted Cover Reveal!

So here’s the cover for Hainted, which is currently on track for a fall 2012 release. The cutie in guyliner is Leif Helsvin, one of two sexy ghost hunters trying to stop an evil necromancer from unleashing an army of the dead.

More updates as the release date draws closer. Right now the manuscript is in my editor’s queue, which I’m super excited about. Yes, I’m one of those weirdos who enjoy the editing process. In the meantime, I’m story-boarding my next book, about a comparative philologist in late-nineteenth century New England who translates a book best left alone, and is drawn into a world of evil cults, human sacrifice, and reanimated monsters. But I’ll babble more about that later!

Achievement Unlocked

Last week I finally wrote “the end” on the first draft of Hainted, my novel about a pair of sexy ghost hunters fighting to stop an evil necromancer and to keep their hands off each other. (Hint: they fail at one of these.)

Yay!

This is how I felt after finishing the booze, I mean the book.

Although I technically began Hainted on November 1 as my Nano novel, I started outlining and researching it much earlier than that, including a trip to Asheville, NC, where some of the action takes place. And of course I’m not anywhere near done: I still have a lot of revising to do before I hand it off to my beta reader, and probably some more after that.

Keyboard Cat

Especially since Keyboard Cat wrote most of it for me.

Be as that may, I’m still excited about finally having the whole thing down. While I wouldn’t call revising easy, it’s a heck of a lot easier than getting the bulk of the book written in the first place!

What about you? Anyone else leveled up recently and want to let the world (or the small percentage of it that reads this blog) know?

Music Monday

Music is an integral part of my creative process, so I thought I’d blog a bit on Mondays about what’s on my current writing “sound track.”

First up is “Haunted” by Stream of Passion, which is first on my playlist for Hainted (if you don’t know, “haint” is an Appalachian for a ghost; to be “hainted” is to be haunted). I found this track on the NaNoWriMo boards in November and love it! The driving guitars and drum beats are perfect for planning dramatic action scenes, and the singer’s ethereal voice is lovely.

What about you, writers and otherwise? Anyone else listening to something they’d like to share?
