It’s almost time for NaNoWriMo, baby! I think by now everyone knows what this is, so I won’t go into detail, other than to say I always get excited this time of the year. For one month, writing takes on a spirit of camaraderie that is hard to find otherwise; not only are you able to commiserate with others who are suffering the usual frustrations, but since one of the rules is to start a new book Nov. 1, you’re all at the awful first draft stage that is so painful.
If you saw yesterday’s post about “the board,” you know I’m trying to plan my way to success this year. Let’s see if I make it!
The Republican Presidential candidates said so many insanely homophobic things this week, I don’t think I can pick just one of them. Feel free to Google if you were lucky enough to miss out.
Actor Zachary Quinto came out this week; for once, I actually recognized a celebrity’s name because he played Spock in the rebooted Star Trek, which I dearly loved. I don’t particularly find Mr. Quinto sexy, but Mr. Spock? Let’s just say I wrote my first fan letter to the original Spock when I was in elementary school, asking him to please, please marry me. I guess I’ve got a thing for smart guys, because when Next Gen came out while I was in high school, I developed a huge crush on Data, too.
In another twenty years, maybe they’ll reboot Star Trek again, this time with the Spock-Kirk love that launched a thousand fanfics. Now that would sell some tickets!
