Black Friday Blog Hop

I have a confession to make. I have never, not once in my life, gone to a store on Black Friday.

I remember the year my boss went to visit his wife’s family for Thanksgiving, and they all went to the Mall of America on Black Friday. My apologies to those of you who would love to do this, but to me this would be the lowest circle in Hell. You know, the one underneath Satan.

Being packed into an enclosed space with hordes of frantic shoppers, pushing and shoving to get to the best deals, is sort of what I envision the zombie apocalypse will be like. Except these zombies trample you to death for a DVD instead of eating your brains. Frankly, I don’t think that’s much of an improvement.

Shoppers

Bargaaaiiiins…

So today I’m staying in, eating leftover pie, and reading a good book. Nice, quiet, and stress-free. What plans do you have? Did you brave the crowds, or are you hiding from the rest of humanity? Black Friday Blog Hop — 108 Comments

  1. Last year was the first year in my 38 years I braved Black Friday. It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t great either. I did go this year for ten minutes to get an awesome deal on pillows which I desperately needed new ones so it was worth it for me. I suppose if you had a few children the money you can save would make it worth it, but I hate crowds so it is definitely not for me.

Thanks for being a part of the hop and for the giveaway. Enjoy your leftover pie and books today!

    Happy Holidays,
    Marlena

    • I hate crowds, too, Marlena, so I’m glad your trip was worth it! Enjoy your pie as well, and thank you for commenting!

  2. i am hiding from the rest of humanity and burying my nose into a book!

    thannks for the giveaway!

  4. I plan to stay home and relax most of the day but there are one or two stores I’ll hit up this morning! I did most of my Black Friday shopping online and at Target last night. 🙂

We don`t have Black Friday deals here (I`m an international reader), so I`m just attending giveaways like these, lol

  7. I used to go out shopping in the days when my 36 year old son was a little guy. But now, any shopping I do is on-line! And, I’m done! Thanks for the giveaway.

    • Online shopping is so less stressful to me. Plus since the holiday decorations have been up since October here, there’s no lure to go into town to see them. Thanks for commenting!

  8. I prefer shopping online (I’m a international reader ^_^) we do have our own version of the Black Friday only it lasts three days. But I don’t like the pushing and grabbing.

  9. I was planning on staying home today, but it looks like I have to visit the post office to track down a rogue package that didn’t show up where it was supposed to.

  10. no black friday in my country ( braderies yes – between 3 or5 days but lesser reduction, sales too but in january only ( and july)

  14. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here I live, so no Black Friday for me either. But it must be fun to go shopping 🙂 I don’t like the big crowd so I usually shop online.

  15. I’m not leaving my house. People seem to have lost basic civility and allover a couple of dollars savings. No thanks.
    planterofhope(at)aol(dot)com

  16. You are not alone – I despise shopping at the best of times – Thank you for participating – I’m happiest staying in without a crowd where I can read and look about ..

    glhince (at) gmail (dot) com

  17. I like your version of Black Friday better – sounds much more relaxing. I’m feeling way behind – no Christmas shopping done yet, Black Friday or otherwise! Thanks for being in the hop!

  20. I sent the hubby since I am at work.I am glad to have found you on this blog hop and look forward to reading your works. Kim86004(at)gmail(dot)com

  21. Shopping is a miserable disease, and Black Friday is the final stages of the plague. Just sayin. The Mall of America? Hell to the 100000000000th degree. No shopping! Blog hopping. Thanks!

    brendurbanist at gmail dot com

  22. I went to a shopping center today, but only to watch a movie there. I’ve already got the presents.

    Thank you for the chance!

    spamscape [at] gmail [dot] com

  23. I went out on Black Friday once at 5am and found that there is nothing worth getting up at 3am and driving 30-40 minutes to be surrounded by crazy shoppers. I now wait until mid-morning and just go to local WalMart.

    susanmplatt AT hotmail DOT com

  24. No I didn’t go, there was some deals that made me tempted to go but with no money and working at Walmart years ago curbed that urge.

    vampiremistress2010(at)gmail(dot)com

  25. I’m not getting near those crowds! I’ll cook a little bit, and maybe look for some e-book deals at home…

    vitajex(at)aol(dot)com

  26. I went out this morning for the first time in three years. I really enjoyed myself. I got to spend girl-time with my oldest daughter and granddaughter. We had a blast! Thanks for participating in the hop! Happy Thanksgiving!

    sandywolters(dot)author(at)gmail(dot)com

  27. I have never braved Black Friday myself. This is our first year with Black Friday sales, and I can only imagine the crowds. Can’t do crowds, I would only have a panic attack on the floor….and as much as I like to save money, I dont like it that much lol Thanks for taking part in this amazing blog hop! 🙂

  28. I was out in the thick of it, but around here it started last night. I kind of love the madness of the experience. I would never push someone over in pursuit of anything though, but if you snatch something out of my cart then there is potential for violence. LOL!

    JYL22075 at gmail dot com

  29. This is the BEST way to spend Black Friday. Sitting at home, hopping with old friends and making new ones. I can’t handle the crowds anymore so I only do Black Friday shopping online if I do any. Today I got a programmable slow cooker for $9.99 online and got free shipping too. Didn’t even have to get dressed LOL. I am a sucker for the Happily Ever After which is why I like the romance books. I especially like the paranormal or futuristic romance books with hot sexy alpha heroes and kick-ass heroines. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.

    shadowluvs2read(at)gmail(dot)com

  32. I no longer go Black Friday shopping. Too many crazy people out there. I don’t have the patience I had when I was younger, LOL. So today I am staying in and blog hopping, instead of shopping! angadair@nwcable.net Thanks for the hop!

  33. I did brave the crowds again this year. I normally hate crowds (and you won’t see me anywhere near a mall this time of year), but this one day each year I LOVE shopping.

  34. I went to some stores, but I waited until after they released their “big deals” to avoid the worst of the crowds…bought lots of small items cheap.

    isabelli3619 (at) aol (dot) com

  35. I did some online shopping today. I went out for two hours this morning, but hardly bought anything.

    Thanks!

    katieamanda1(at)yahoo(dot)com

  36. I’ve only “enjoyed” Black Friday online — and what I usually do is just browse through the offers but I’ve never actually bought anything. ^_^

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

    – khriscc (at) yahoo (dot) com

  37. No black fridays here either but Amazon and so on is really having great deals, wish I knew earlier about this, like a few tears ago already:)

    kiss_shani(at)hotmail(dot)com

  38. I went out for my shopping today and got great deals. It wasn’t crazy either 🙂 So hurray!

  39. Thanks for being a part of the hop. I keep saying that I”m not going to do black Friday shopping next year but I still do it. Did it this year and it wasn’t too bad. A little sad about how early some of them started.

  40. I’m in hiding. 😀 Enjoyed a pretty stress-free day, and made “Everything-Leftover Casserole”, which tasted great! Leftover pie for dessert….Yum!

    Enjoy!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  43. No chance of me going out in the crowds. you are quite right. They are zombies and just as ravenous.

    krankimom[at]comcast[dot]net

  44. I’m not a fan of Black Friday, so I just stayed home, away from the crowds! 🙂
    laceyblossom1(at)gmail(dot)com

  45. Happy Black Friday and thanks for the chance to win some great prizes! I don’t really do Black Friday. I’m an online deal shopper and prefer not to mess with the crazy mass of people all trying to get a bargin!
    kacidesigns AT yahoo DOT com

  46. I hid away. i don’t like the crowds.
    thank you for the giveaway!
